Hello {{ subscriber.first_name or "friend" }},
I can't believe it, but I actually reached my goal of swimming over 600 yards in 12 minutes.
Have you heard of the Cooper 12 minute swim test? It's used to assess your cardiorespiratory endurance by having you swim as far as possible in 12 minutes. You're allowed to use any
swimming strokes at any given time. You can even take breaks if you need to.
At the end of the 12 minutes, you calculate the distance swum in yards and rate your cardiorespiratory endurance with this chart.
I don't know about you, but when I see charts like this one, I have to test them out, and then, of course, I have to push myself to make it into the excellent column for an age group that's younger than me.
I had made it to the excellent column for the 30 to 39 old a few months ago, and I thought that was going to be the best that I could do.
But then I said to myself, I said, "self," I said, "I feel half my age; in other words, I feel 28 years old. So I just have to make it to the excellent column for the 20 to 29-year-old." And I did it!
But you know what, I have to say, I'm not comfortable about going on and on about myself. I just wanted to bring this swim test to your attention in case you want to try it out on yourself or your kids. There's also a Cooper 12 minute run test if you're into running?
Reaching your goals gives you a sense of personal satisfaction. Every successful step toward it builds confidence, and the more you accomplish, the better you feel about yourself. And it's the best feeling.
I hope you try it out and then let me know how it goes. I would love to hear all about it.
