Happy New Year! Also included: Swim Skills for Your Kids to Practice in the Bathtub
Published: Wed, 01/01/20
Happy New Year! May 2020 bless you with health, wealth, and happiness!
If your kids are taking a break from swimming lessons during the cold winter months, here are some tips to keep up their skills. All of which can be done in the bathtub:
Kicking is ideal in the tub. It promotes straighter legs and a smaller kick.
Floating on the front and the back. Even in shallow water, they can feel the buoyancy.
Breath control, AKA holding their breath and putting their faces in the water.
Or conditioning them to hold their breath. Say, "your child's name, ready, go," wait 1 second, then pour water over their head. Appropriate for newborns and older. Do this about 5-10 times (stop when they start to fuss) or for 3-years+ have them do it themselves.
Love the water but fence it in,
Tessa
