Have you seen this video yet? A 2-year-old scales "unclimbable" pool gate to an above ground pool. The gate locks in place over the ladder, and its purpose is to prevent young children from scaling it — not a good design.

A pool cover, on the other hand, can collect dangerous amounts of water and then becomes unsafe for young children. It takes less than 2 inches of water to cause drowning.
And don't forget to do the same for other water sources, such as spas and landscape water features.
