Many years before I became a swim instructor, I remember being afraid of pouring water over my newborn baby's head during his first bath after we brought him home from the hospital.
My husband assured me that there's nothing to worry about. I believed him, and I was right to believe him because our son never developed a fear of water.
I assure you that the water will not go up baby's nose because the water pours down from the top of baby's head. Babies automatically hold their breath during this conditioning process.
And if your kid is not a newborn, it's not too late to get him comfortable with the same process.
In fact, if he's not comfortable with water being poured down his face, he will not want to try to put his face in the water. Watch this very short video to see how this is done.
