I hope this email finds you well. I'm writing today to wrap up our Drowning Prevention Awareness Campaign for May.
I've shared resources and information with you throughout the month. Still, in this
email, I want to help you take the following steps in drowning prevention by offering advice on creating a safe backyard pool environment.
Install a fence around your pool. A fence is the best way to keep children and pets out of your pool. The
fence should be at least 4 feet high and have self-closing and self-latching gates.
Keep your pool covered. To prevent accidents and make it harder for children and pets to access the water, using a pool safety net is even better than a pool cover because it prevents water from collecting.
Install a pool alarm. A pool alarm can alert you if someone falls into the water.
Supervise children at all times. Even if your pool is fenced and covered, it's important to supervise children in or around the water at all times.
Teach children water safety skills. For example, ensure your children know how to swim and stay safer in and around water.
Learn CPR. CPR can save lives. If you know CPR, you can help someone who is drowning.
I hope these tips help you create a safe backyard pool environment. Remember, together; we can help prevent preventable drowning incidents and promote life-saving knowledge to everyone.
