Aiming to create confident young swimmers, our focus today is improving breath control. Here are some simple tips you can try at home:
Babies (0-2
years):
1. Condition early: Prepare infants for underwater excitement using regular conditioning.
2. Use phrases: Introduce "Name, ready, go!" before gently pouring water over their forehead during bath time.
3. Respect limits: If your child shows discomfort, revert to less immersive
activities.
For Toddlers and Above (2+ years):
1. Promote face immersion: Encourage voluntary actions like putting faces underwater during playtime.
2. Never
force: Let the child define their comfort level; never push their head underwater.
3. Use counting to increase breath-hold durations: Instruct them to progressively submerge their faces for increasing durations. It will help them get comfortable with their faces in the water and improve their breath control.
Let's make swimming an enjoyable journey where each child can safely explore the aquatic world at their own pace while learning essential skills!
