Hello friend,
Parents have shared with me that their children never take time to practice swimming skills
when they're in the pool, instead choosing to play the entire time.
The same parents don't always love this habit; they want their kids to work on perfecting their swimming skills.
But it's not all about perfecting swimming techniques. Spending lots of time underwater flipping, turning, rolling, and diving down to the bottom of the pool comes with its own set of benefits!
This type of aquatic play helps develop balance, strength, agility, motor skills, spatial awareness, and breath control and builds self-esteem and confidence. It's just as important - if not more so - than
practicing skills they learn from their swim lessons.
Aquatic play also presents an opportunity for problem-solving - each person can develop their own unique way of playing in a pool that can help them
learn different skills quickly and have fun doing it!
And finally, children develop comfort and familiarity with water, which can lead to increased safety awareness and skills.
