A parent recently asked me if it was too late to get her 13-year-old enrolled in swimming lessons which inspired me to write this email.
It's never too late to get your kid started with swimming lessons! In fact it's essential.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, children who do not know how to swim are at risk of drowning. It's the second leading cause of unintentional death for those between 1 and 14 years of age.
While it's true that little ones will learn more quickly if they start lessons young, the potential benefits of learning to swim are lifelong.
A study by the American Academy of Pediatrics, children who have taken swimming lessons have been found to have better motor and cognitive skills than their non-swimming peers.
Even if your child does not intend to become a competitive swimmer or work as a lifeguard in the future, having this skill will provide them with peace of mind about their ability to take care of themselves around water.
I hope you found this helpful. Until next time...
